Forty-eight hours, on the record

The Summerville marathon becomes a monitored world-record attempt.

The 48-hour American mah jongg marathon at The Pickle Bar in Summerville, South Carolina, is now an officially monitored Guinness World Record attempt running June 28 through 30, per Post and Courier coverage.

Four players are named: Nancy de Zutter of Summerville, with Jan Egri, Michele Frizzell, and Jennifer Clayton from Georgia, Florida, and Texas. The attempt is verified with independent witnesses, certified timekeepers, a logbook, and full video, and it benefits hunger relief and Alzheimer's advocacy.

OOTT is not affiliated with the event. A record attempt is a sturdier hook than a marathon alone, and the causes are sturdier still.
