The Table That Gives Back
A first mah jongg and mimosas morning comes to Williamsville
Jewish Family Services of Western New York will hold its inaugural mah jongg brunch on August 2, and it is opening the tables to beginners.
Jewish Family Services of Western New York will host its first Mah Jongg and Mimosas fundraiser on Sunday, August 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Williamsville, according to the Ken-Ton Bee. The morning is built around American mah jongg and welcomes both experienced players and newcomers.
Tickets are $65 and include mah jongg play, brunch, and one mimosa, per the report, with a $40 option for guests who want to attend without playing. The agency is honoring Ruth Wiseman Spivack, a longtime supporter and board member.
Proceeds support the agency's programs, which the report lists as housing assistance, social care navigation, care coordination, family support, and counseling and therapy services. The exact venue is being shared with registered attendees.
Prim's take: a first-year event that sets a place for beginners is doing the quiet work of growing the game, one welcoming table at a time.
