A Midland league splits its Summer Classic into two divisions
An afternoon of American mahjong on August 9, with a shorter beginner bracket sitting alongside the experienced one.
The WTX Mahjong League has opened registration for its 2026 Summer Classic Tournament, set for Sunday, August 9 from 1 PM to 5 PM in Midland, Texas. The listing prices entry at $90 plus a service fee, and says registration is open to members.
The division split is the detail worth noting. Per the event page, the experienced division plays three rounds of American mahjong at four games per round, while the beginner division plays two. A shorter bracket lowers the cost of showing up for the first time, which is a quieter fix for the beginner problem than any amount of encouragement.
