A Cape Cod charity tournament is already taking names for a waiting list
Cape & Islands Mahjong lists its October 17 Mah Jongg for a Mission tournament at $75 and shows it as a waitlist entry, six weeks before the date.
Cape & Islands Mahjong runs a charity tournament series it calls Mah Jongg for a Mission. Its mission page gives the next date as Saturday, October 17th, 2026, and describes the series as "a mission-driven effort to raise funds for meaningful causes within the Cape Cod community." The page says the October tournament is being played for Alzheimer's awareness.
On the group's own events listing, that October 17 tournament is priced at $75 and appears as a waitlist entry rather than an open one. The listing also carries a Mah Jongg for a Mission date of September 19, a 70th birthday tournament on October 3, a Stoughton tournament on October 11, and a separate fundraiser billed as Play It Forward. Neither page states a venue or a start time for the October date, so anyone interested has to write and ask.
This is the American game. The same events listing sells American Mah Jongg beginner and strategy classes through September and October, and describes the beginner class as a chance to "learn the basics of American MahJongg & gain confidence to start playing on your own."
The detail that matters is the waiting list. A local charity tournament that is full six weeks out is not a marketing claim, it is an inventory state on the organizer's own booking page. The group also asks openly for causes to support, saying "Do you have a meaningful cause you would like Mah Jongg for a Mission to support?" OOTT is not affiliated with the organizers and has no part in registration or the fundraising.
