Set Your Rack
A San Diego rec center keeps Saturdays for players who already know how
Ten Saturdays at the Nobel Recreation Center are set aside for American mahjongg, with one condition, which is that you bring your own set.
The Nobel Recreation Center at 8810 Judicial Drive in San Diego has American mahjongg on its calendar on Saturdays from 5 September through 7 November 2026, meeting in Nobel Meeting Room 2. The program is listed under Nobel staff rather than a named instructor.
This is not a beginner course, and the listing does not pretend otherwise. Its own line is that if anyone knows how to play American mahjongg, they should come play once a week. Participants are asked to bring their own mahjongg set.
The listing places the program in the senior adult category and shows an age range of 18 to 99, co-ed. Registration is shown as open. No fee is published on the listing, so anyone who needs the number should call the recreation center at 858-552-1626, which is also the contact given for refunds and transfers.
It is a small entry, and it answers a question players ask far more often than where to take a class. Somebody who learned years ago and has no table does not need teaching. They need a room, a regular day, and three other people who show up.
