Two friends teach a Tuesday night course in Jenks, Oklahoma, and the first one filled

Jenks Community Education's Mahjong 101 has a waiting list for its fall session and a second one starting October 27.

Jenks Community Education lists Mahjong 101, a course for ages 13 to adult taught by Lori Paskvan and Betsy Smith, at the Community Service Center, 951 W Main St, in Jenks, Oklahoma. The catalog describes the instructors as two best friends and empty nesters who love the game.

According to the listing, the first fall session (Tuesdays, September 22 to October 20) shows as full with a waiting list. A second session meets Tuesdays, October 27 to November 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and the listing shows it open for enrollment. Each session costs $200, and all supplies are provided.

Per the course description, students will learn the history of the game and the basics of the tiles, master the Charleston (the passing ritual of American play), and learn to build a hand and play with confidence.
