Three friends who talk the whole game through, the losing included.
Tile Talk is a young American Mahjong podcast made by three friends, Elizabeth, Christina and Marshall, who started it this year and have kept at it steadily since, better than a dozen episodes deep and gathering a warm little following as they go.
What Prim liked, and the reason she featured them in a letter about the parts of the game nobody puts on the box, is the range of what they will sit down and discuss: the delicate business of playing for money, the mental health side of the game with a teacher at the microphone, and the plain, brave question of how you are even supposed to know how good a player you are. A great deal of mahjong talk is about triumph. Theirs makes the hard parts speakable, and a thing you can talk about at a table is a thing you can be gracious about.
Written from what the letter said. Read the letter for the whole of it.
