A four week Tuesday tile league at a bottle shop in Davidson is sold out

Side Bar Bottle Co. runs a competitive American mah jongg league on the 2026 card through October 20, with a waitlist for substitutes.

Side Bar Bottle Co. in Davidson, North Carolina, is running "See Ya Next Tuesday, Tile League," a four week American mah jongg league that meets on Tuesdays, September 29 and October 6, 13 and 20, from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m., according to its ticket page. The page lists the league as sold out, with a waitlist for substitutes.

Per the listing, players must already know how to play American mah jongg and bring a 2026 National Mah Jongg League card. Table seats are drawn at random each week, and the goal is four games in each 90 minute session.

Scoring runs on raffle tickets, according to the page: one for attending and three for each mahjong. The highest scorer of the season takes the grand prize, and a separate prize goes to the player who wins with the widest variety of lines. The listing also asks players to arrive a few minutes early and notes that "competitiveness is welcome, but rudeness is not."

In Prim's opinion, a prize for the widest range of hands is a charming way to coax players off their favorite line and across the whole card.
