American mahjong classes fill at the Indianapolis Central Library

Both October instruction sessions are full with waitlists, and the library lists walk in open play nights for those already playing.

The Indianapolis Public Library's Central Library lists two American mahjong instruction classes this month, on Thursdays 15 and 29 October from 2 to 4 PM, and its event pages show both as full with a waitlist, according to the library's calendar.

Per the listing, each class offers two hours of instruction in American mahjong, which the library describes as a tile game growing in popularity across the country. Registration is required.

For players who already know the game, the library also lists American Mahjong Open Play on Tuesday 20 October and Tuesday 3 November, 5:30 to 7:30 PM, and says walk ins are welcome for open play.

In Prim's opinion, a full class is a good reason to put your name on the waitlist rather than give up. Spots do open.
