The Mah Jongg World Championship sits down tonight in Las Vegas

Twelve rounds over three days at the Paris Las Vegas, with awards on Sunday afternoon.

The 11th annual Mah Jongg World Championship begins this evening, October 16, at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and runs through Sunday, October 18, according to organizer Destination Mah Jongg. The event is listed as sold out, with a waitlist.

Per the published schedule, players sign in at 6:30 PM Friday and play rounds one through three that night. Saturday brings rounds four through nine, with an optional mini tournament that evening, and Sunday morning closes out rounds ten through twelve before awards at 1:15 PM.

The organizer bills the weekend as having the highest payout of any tournament, though its page does not list dollar amounts. A discounted Golden Ticket entry was offered to players who placed first, second or third in a qualifying National Mah Jongg League tournament.

The Dispatch will report the results once the organizer publishes them. OOTT is not affiliated with the championship.
