American mah jongg spreads from Bowling Green to Cave City and Franklin
WNKY reports that Warren County Parks and Recreation now offers lessons and play two or three days a week.
American mah jongg is gaining ground in south central Kentucky, according to a WNKY News 40 report from October 12. Sarah Cochran, founder of BG Birdie Bams, began teaching the game locally after discovering it in 2024, and the report says she also offers free instruction.
Per WNKY, Warren County Parks and Recreation now offers lessons and play at multiple locations two or three days a week, and the playing community now reaches from Bowling Green to Cave City and Franklin.
The report also notes that the card of winning hands is updated each April, so players relearn part of the game every spring.
Players in the area looking for a table can start with Warren County Parks and Recreation's schedule, per the report.
