Order of the Tile

License & Use

Last updated July 2026

On ownership. Every guide and printable in the shop is Prim's own original work, yours to keep, print, and enjoy at your own table. It is not yours to sell, share, give away, or reproduce for anyone else. However, if you have an idea for how we might partner, I would love to talk with you about it. Do write to [email protected]. © 2026 The Order of the Tile. All rights reserved, gently but firmly.

This page sets out the license that comes with every digital product you buy from The Order of the Tile: the Learning Guide, the printables, the score cards, and anything else offered as a download. It works alongside our Terms of Service, which govern the site as a whole.

Who owns the work

All of our digital products, and everything in them, are the original creative work of Lake & Ivy LLC, a Texas limited liability company, doing business as Order of the Tile. This includes the writing, the layout and design, the tile artwork and illustrations, the Prim character and voice, and the Order of the Tile name and marks. Buying a product gives you a license to use it, described below. It does not transfer ownership or any copyright to you.

What you may do

When you buy one of our downloads, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license. Under it, you may:

A small clarification, because Prim is precise about these things: "your own table" means the one at home, and your printed copies go home in your bag at the end of the night. They are for you, not to be handed out to a class you teach, a club you host, or any table that is not your own. If you would like to use a guide with your class, let us know. That is wonderful, truly, and there is very likely a happy way that we can accommodate.

What you may not do

To protect work that was made one at a time and by hand, you may not:

If you would like to do more

Teachers, clubs, and groups are welcome, and there is often a happy way to say yes. If you want to use a product with a class, a library, a club, or in any way beyond your own personal use, please write to [email protected] and ask. A separate written license can usually be arranged.

Trademarks

The Order of the Tile name, the Prim character, and our related marks are trademarks of Lake & Ivy LLC. Nothing in this license gives you the right to use them, except as they naturally appear within the product you bought.

American Mahjong and the NMJL card

American Mahjong itself, and the National Mah Jongg League card, are not ours. The Order of the Tile is an independent publisher and is not affiliated with the National Mah Jongg League. Our guides do not reproduce the NMJL card.

If the license is broken

This license is granted on the condition that you honor it. If it is broken, the license ends automatically, and we may pursue any remedies available to us under copyright and other law. We would always rather send a friendly note first, and usually will.

Governing law

This license is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
